The autumn of philosophy

In the tradition of the Derby Philosophers of the eighteenth century, the Salon will host two Battle of Ideas satellite events and a ‘Balloon Debate’ in the autumn on philosophical themes.

Wednesday 11 October 2017 ‘Should we study dead white philosophers?’ Speakers: An invited panel, including Professor Angie Hobbs (Professor of the Public Understanding of Philosophy, The University of Sheffield) and Courtney Hamilton (Photographer and Writer). Thursday 9 November 2017 ‘Group Think’: Have universities put conforming before criticism?’ Speakers:  Dr Glynne Williams (Leicester); Dr Vanessa Pupavac (Nottingham) and Dr Ruth Mieschbuehler (Derby). 7 PM The Brunswick Inn, Derby. *A Battle of Ideas Satellite event*.
